Favourite Glitter Nail Polishes

Today I thought for a quick post I would show two of my favourite glitter Nail Polishes. Both of them are incidentally from Barry M as this is one of my favourite nail polish brands. I feel like their nail polishes are very chip resistant and they only take around 2 coats to apply which means they are great for everyday wear! The first polish on the right is called 'Princess' and this is part of the textured range and so the glitter in this is very pigmented so if you want you can wear this by itself but I like to wear it with either a pink or a neutral nail polish. This is a really pretty light pastel pink colour and so is great for the coming spring! The next polish on the right is called 'Jingle Bells' and this is much less pigmented so I like to wear it with a bright red nail polish. The glitter in this is red and gold so it was great for other Christmas time but unfortunately it was part of the limited edition range so is not available anymore : (

Current Favourite Makeup Brushes

Brushes are a big part of anyone's makeup collection, they can effect how products look on our face and so are very important! When I first started wearing makeup I thought that I could just use cheap brushes but I was wrong. Although, in some cases cheaper brushes can be good but usually it is best to invest in a set of makeup brushes from a reliable brand. If you are not inclined to spend much money on brushes then just remember that you will be using them everyday for a good few years too come. If you take care of your brushes well there is no reason that you can't. Or you could ask for them for a Birthday or Christmas! Some brands that I would recommend are Bobbi Brown, Mac, Real Techniques and Zoeva. Zoeva Brushes seem to be gaining popularity at the moment as many bloggers, vloggers and so on are starting to use them. After starting to use them I can honestly say, at the risk of sounding cliché, I love them so much! Obviously, there are some brushes that I like more than others but the quality of them is generally very high. Soooo I thought I would review three of my favourites!

Zoeva 127 Luxe Sheer Cheek - This brush is perfect for applying blusher as it is angled and so perfectly fits the shape of the apples of your cheeks so it is easy to get your blush in the right place. Because of how fluffy it is really easy to get the perfect amount of product on your face so you don't go too overboard!

Zoeva 110 Face Shape - This brush is much less fluffier than the 127 and so is great for applying a lot more product but it is also firmer and so is good for smaller areas. I like to use this for pressed powders and translucent powders because it perfectly fits under your eyes so is great for setting concealer.

Zoeva 222 Luxe All Over Shader - This brush was originally meant to be for eye shadow as it is small in size and fluffy. However these are two of the reasons that I like to use it for concealer as I find that fluffier brushes seem to apply the product more smoothly and blend them in. I only like to se this for under the eyes as it is not great for dabbing in concealer on blemishes and problem areas.

Makeup Of The Day

Hey! Today I wanted to do a Makeup Of The Day because I have really enjoyed using these products in the past and altogether using these you can achieve a perfect 'No Makeup, Makeup Look' as some might call it.  (There is no mascara included as I am not enjoying using any mascaras enough to recommend them : ). This kind of look is perfect to use on an everyday basis, it very natural and good if you are just starting out in makeup!

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer - The Fit Me concealer is a low coverage liquid concealer and is stored in a tube container which, just putting it out there, is awful! It oozes out every time you screw the lid back on and does not make for a clean travel bag. Aside from this, the actual concealer is quite good. Its thin consistency makes it easy to apply but I recommend putting the product on your hand first so you can more accurately dab it on your face to make sure it doesn't get too cakey. Mine is in the shade 20 but unfortunately they have very limited shade choices so if you have pinky undertones then this is probably not the best concealer for you as the Fit Me concealer is very orange toned on the skin.

Boujouir Blush No. 48 - This cute little blusher comes in a small little pot making it perfect for travel. It is a very deep pink colour and just a bit darker pink than the shade you usually blush. It looks very pretty on the cheeks as it just adds a soft glow to your complexion making it perfect for this look. The pigmentation of the product is quite sheer but I feel like it needs to be if it is this kind of colour that can look quite unnatural if applied heavily. The brush I use with this blusher is the 'Zoeva Luxe Sheer Cheek' and this is and angled brush which is quite fluffy. This means that just the right amount of product goes on your cheeks.

Maybelline 24hr Colour Tattoo Leather Effect - My colour tattoo is in the shade Creamy Beige and this is like a browny mauve colour which looks very natural on the eye lids. It is a cream eye shadow which means it has a very creamy consistency and so can easily be applied  using your finger and glides on smoothly. These shadows are extremely highly pigmented but because of the nature of the product you can apply however much you want depending on the look you are going for. They are very long lasting and because of this it can be very hard to cleanse them off and this is one of the only down sides to them. However, I suppose if you had an ultra long day then they would be perfect!

Clinique Quickliner in 01 Intense Black - This eyeliner is one of my favourites as it quite similar to a thin crayon. I like to use this in the waterline which gives a more defined feel to the eyes and is great for naturally making your eyes appear bigger without being too ott! The eyeliner is very pigmented and can easily draw a straight black line on the eyelid if you want to go for a more dramatic look or you can even smudge it out to create a smoky eye effect. There are different ways you can apply this depending on what perception of your eyes you want to give. If you have very round eyes you should fill in all of your waterline to make your eyes seem more round and vice versa. However, be careful to not make the line too bold as it can become a bit bottom heavy!

The L'Oreal Collection Exclusive by Eva - This is one of my favourite ever lipsticks, as it is a pinky nude and I just love a pinky nude : ) However, in pictures it can look slightly orangey and this links into one of its problems. The lipstick tends to change colour depending on the temperature it is at so I like to wear it on quite warm days as it seems more pink on these days. Unfortunately, this can get a bit annoying as on some days it looks completely wrong on me and then some days I love it! This lipstick is quite sheer and this means that you can just easily touch it up throughout the day without even a mirror!

My Current Favourite Skincare Item

Like most people, when I find a skincare product that I like, I tend to stick with it. I have always struggled to find a good exfoliator as there are so many to choose from but it can all depend so much on your skin type, skin sensitivity and so on. At the moment I am loving the Kiehl's Rare Earth Deep Pore Daily Cleanser. The consistency resembles that of clay and contains spherical beads. I would recommend this to someone with oily/combination skin as if you have dry skin it can completely dry out your skin. I always like to pair it with a rich moisturizer to make my skin feel extra smooth and poreless for large amounts of time. This retails at around £18 online so it is in the higher price range of scrubs but considering it is Kiehls it is totally worth the money!

Top Tips For Buying/Using Exfoliators:
  • The beads in an exfoliator should always be spherical rather than rough to insure that none of the skin cells on your face are damaged.
  • Always make sure that an exfoliator is suited to your skin type as if it is too drying then it can do your skin more harm than good.
  • If an exfoliator is causing redness and itchiness then it probably means that the exfoliator is either too harsh or your skin does not agree with some of the ingredients in the product
  • If you have sensitive skin then try to use exfoliators with more natural ingredients than chemicals.
  • Always rub in circular motions to insure that your skin is not damaged
